Who we are
Coverledger is an educational website that publishes general guides on U.S. personal finance and insurance. You can reach us about anything in this policy through the contact page.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. Your email address if you sign up for the newsletter, and the content of any message you send us.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider and any analytics or advertising partners receive standard technical data when a page loads: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, the page that referred you, and the date and time of the visit.
We do not ask for, and you should never send us, account numbers, Social Security numbers, policy numbers, or health information.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. The site itself stores only your light or dark theme preference, in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
Third parties we work with may set their own cookies, web beacons or similar identifiers, as described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you reading the site, though some ads may become less relevant.
Advertising

Service providers who make the site work: hosting, email delivery, analytics and the advertising partners named above. We do not sell or rent personal information for money. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to correct or delete it, to opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising, and to withdraw consent. California residents have these rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA. Visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have similar rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR, and where required we ask for consent before personalised ads are shown.
Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link. For anything else, contact us and we will respond within 30 days. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Retention and security
Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deal with it. The site is served over HTTPS, and we keep the information we hold to a minimum.

Our guides link to government agencies, regulators and other sources. Their privacy practices are their own, so check their policies when you visit them.

If we change this policy, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top of the page.
